Last night we had a spectacular display of Northern Lights over the bay. They weren’t as bright as the St. Patrick’s Day display but these were huge and were rapidly dancing and shimmering. Around 11 p.m. I experimented by using the “night lapse” setting on my GoPro Hero4 camera. I was disappointed because when I viewed them on the camera all the shots looked completely black. But this morning I brought a few of the files into Photoshop. After adjusting the levels I managed to pull out some grainy images of the aurora. Here’s one of the results. Near the top of the frame you can also see the Big Dipper and Polaris, the North Star. Did any of you get a chance to see the lights last night? Some Facebook sites are reporting that tonight may be good for viewing as well.
