Instead of mind-numbing escapism featuring bachelors or masked singers, here’s a better TV viewing option. Invest 90 minutes in the new mind-expanding documentary “Public Trust: The Fight for America’s Public Lands” by Patagonia Films.
If you have ever visited and appreciated any public lands, or if you ever plan to in the future, you need to understand the broad political push to privatize federally owned land. Specifically, the film looks at the fight going on to save Minnesota’s Boundary Waters, Utah’s Bears Ears National Monument, Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and even the Grand Canyon. Fortunately, because activists are highlighting what’s going on, people are banding together to fight for the outdoors. But the battles are a long way from being won.
“Public Trust” is available free on YouTube and other platforms. Just click the video link below. Better yet, view it on your big TV to fully enjoy spectacular imagery, audio and this important message.
“In God’s wildness lies the hope of the world – the great fresh unblighted, unredeemed wilderness. The galling harness of civilization drops off, and wounds heal ere we are aware.” – John Muir
