I recently returned from the Team River Runner Adaptive Paddling Conference (AKA National Leadership Conference) held June 18-22 in the Washington, DC area for TRR leaders from across the country. In addition to working on leadership, outreach, diversity, safety, PTSD, TBI, adaptive paddling, and swift water rescue, a few of us whitewater kayak instructors received an ACA instructor update from Steve McCone of Calleva River School and former Olympic slalom kayaker Ben Kvanli. The conference culminated Saturday evening with the TRR 20th Anniversary Gala. All told, it was an outstanding opportunity to learn, share and to re-energize, as well as to make and renew TRR friendships. Kudos to all speakers, organizers, volunteers and especially event chair and chief cat-herder Bill Finger. (Apologies for duplicated photos. Word Press is causing problems at the moment.)
